Question

Restaurant-related phrase

Let's say that I work as a waitress in a restaurant, and there's a customer who wants to pay his\her check. I go to the restaurant manager and say: "I need to..............................". What am I supposed to say in this situation when I need to give a customer his check and receive payment?

Working in a restaurant can get crazy sometimes. That means people speak quickly, and a little differently than they normally do. It's also common in a lot of restaurants to let the wait staff do all the payments themselves.

When I was a waiter, I used to say this if I needed someone else to handle the money for me.

"Hey, (name), get table 3 the check! I gotta drop this food!"

It's pretty common to just say:

  1. (Table number) would like the bill/check.
  2. (Table number) would like to pay out.
