Question

How to pronounce "EBITDA" and "EBIT"

"EBITDA" and "EBIT" are financial words.

"EBITDA" means "earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization", and "EBIT" - "earnings before interest and tax".

If you know, could you tell me how to pronounce them: as separate letters or as words?

EBITDA = "EE - BIT - DAH"

EBIT = "EE - BIT"

Hope that helps!

Thank you, Amelia! Yes, it helps! You pronounce them like words.

Yup! Most Americans probably don't understand what these terms mean or that they're typically pronounced as a word because these terms are so specialized. However, if you go to any person who works or has worked in finance, they definitely learned the "standard" way to pronounce them. =)
