Question

Explaining this Mark Twain quote in Japanese "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority..."

I was trying to explain a famous Mark Twain quote in Japanese the other day.

The quote is,

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."

I tried saying, "みんなと同じようにすることを気づいたら、その時に一回止まって考え直すべきじゃないでしょうか?"

How would you explain this better?

Hi Ava,

Your translation is great. Mark Twain was also known for his bluntness, so how about these:

みんなと同じことをしていると気づいたら、自分の意見を考え直す時なんだ。

自分が多数派に属すると気づいたら、立ち止まってじっくり考えるべき時だよ。

Hope these could stimulate your love of language learning ;)
